Christan Grant was born in Miami, Florida.  He recently graduated from the University of Florida with his degree in Bachelor in Computer Engineering.  He was involved in several organizations including the Open Source Users Group, Progressive Black Men, Inc., National Society of Black Engineers, University Scholars and Chi Alpha Christian Fellowship. 

After graduating, Christan interned at IBM Almaden Research Center under the direction of Tyrone Grandison.  While there he developed a prototype for the Health-e-Assistant, an engine which addresses a GAP between personal health records and the Web 2.0.

He is currently enrolled as a Doctoral student in the Database Group.  His research lies in the area of databases, data mining, deep-web search, and information retrieval.  More specifically, he is a part of the Morpheus Project where he is investigating methods for wrapping deep web sources for retrieval and composition.

Christan has served as a Campus Ambassador for SUN Microsystems for the past two years.  He is charged with evangelizing SUN's free and open source technologies to the University of Florida campus and surrounding area.  He is engaged to be married in May 2009.
